Taybelle PM Acorn Squash is an all-American vegetable. It is hardy and easy to prepare. The Acorn Squash was a staple for the Native Americans. Founding fathers George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were both avid growers of the hearty acorn squash just like HP Farms. Even though it is considered a winter squash, it is actually a member of the same family of the summer squashes like zucchini. It is a very healthy food that pleases the palate. It’s sweet, slightly nutty flesh is an excellent source of Vitamins A, B6 and C. It is also a good source of fiber, potassium and manganese.
Aladdin Pumpkins are dark orange carving pumpkins. They have moderate ribbing and tip the scales at 25-35lbs. They have large handles that are firmly rooted into the fruit.
Baby Pam Pumpkins are a new variety for HP Farms for 2023! Baby Pams are a delicious little pie pumpkin. It is sweet, dry, stringless and cooks down well. It also has a long sturdy handles that makes a good Halloween Pumpkin.
Big Doris Pumpkins are large, dark orange with well attached dark green handles. We have been growing Big Doris Pumpkins since our very beginning because it continues to be an excellent pumpkin. It has a beautiful well defined ribs and averages between 30-40lbs. It makes a perfect pumpkin to carve, display or puree.
The Big Max Pumpkin is a GIANT pumpkin with bright orange skin and fine grained with yellow-orange flesh. They often reach over 100 pounds and have more of a round shape. We have grown some Big MAX pumpkins over 120 pounds at HP Farms!
The Blaze Pumpkin gets its name from its striking appearance. This yellow pumpkin has bright orange stripes that almost resemble flames. Its ribbing is shallow, which gives the pumpkin a flat texture. It is not good for eating but accents any fall display.
Blue Ballet Hubbard squash is high in Vitamins A,B and C. It is also high in potassium, manganese, magnesium and fiber. It supports heart health, blood pressure, immune system and bone health. It has a soft, blue-grey skin with sweet orange flesh which has lovely flavor. It also stores very well.
The BOSS Pumpkin is a new hybrid to HP FARMS for 2023. It has more tradiotional ribs and a wonderful vibrant orange color. Its thick strongly attached handles are sure to be a hit for our customers. It comes in around 20lbs so it makes an ideal pumpkin to carve, paint or decorate with.
Casperita Pumpkins (also know as Baby Boo Pumpkins) are small white miniature pumpkins. They are great for fall/winter decorating, but they are also edible! They actually taste similar to acorn squash.
Cushaw Squash came from West Indies earlier than 1700, but HP Farms has only been growing this variety for a couple of years! It is commonly known as The Sweet Potato Pumpkin”.This squash is bulb shaped with green mottled stripes or even orange mottled stripes. It has thick, yellow flesh that is slightly sweet. It is perfect for baking pies. It makes a great mashed squash when fried and mixed with savory herbs.
Cinderella Carriage Pumpkins are extra large that average 25-35 lbs and have a flattened shape with pronounced lobes. They have a bright orange exterior while their interior is thick and meaty with hardly any wasted space. The flesh is yellow and sweet which makes for great pies, breads or really any other baked goodies. It is ALWAYS a favorite here at HP FARMS.
Cronus Pumpkins are large, attractive, dark orange pumkins. They grow between 25-60 lbs. They have a good dark green handle. If you are looking for a good pumkin to carve OR decorate -then you will find plenty of Cronus Pumpkins at HP Farms.
The Dill’s Atlantic Giant Pumpkin is the grand daddy of ALL giant pumpkins! The record for this variety is 2009 lbs! It is common for this variety to produce 400-500 lbs fruit. The largest we have grown at HP Farms is just over 200 lbs! We hope that maybe this is the year we get the BIG ONE!
Fairytale Pumpkins are large, flat members of the squash family originally from the Caribbean. They have sweet, edible flesh that is perfect for cooking and baking. It has large, deep ribs that turn from dark green to orange-brown when ripe.
Festival Squash as known as Carnival Squash is a beautifully colored variety that is orange, yellow and green. It is slightly smaller than acorn squash. It is best when it is roasted to concentrate and bring out all of its flavors. It can also be steamed or pureed. The seeds are delicious roasted as well. It’s the perfect size for 1-2 servings.
The Fireball is a striking decorative pumpkin that is an absolute favorite at HP FARMS. Its vibrant orange and yellow striped pattern is just beautiful for you fall displays.
Flatso Pumpkins have a unique look with their flat oval shape. They have a bright orange color with moderate ribbing. They are typically around 6-10lbs.
Black Futsu Squash is an heirloom Japanese squash. It has deeply ribbed, bumpy skin that cures deep black-green to a warm orange buff color. It has edible skin and a fine nutty flavored flesh. It is great roasted or fried in tempura or even pureed in soups or pies. It is a precious favorite at HP Farms.
Grizzly Bear Pumpkins are peculiar. They have a appealing dark carmel color with warted fruit. They have a hard shell and the warts harden as the pumpkin matures. They are sure to add to your fall décor. They weigh around 6-10 lbs.
Hot Chocolate Pumpkins are quaint carmel-chocolate color with a strong stem. It has a slightly ribbed skin and attractive shape. They weigh about 5-8 lbs.
This new pumpkin to HP Farms in 2023 is pronounces E-GOR. This is a PERFERCT pumpkin for Halloween. It is tall and lurking with a dark orange skin and deep ribs.
Hp Farms Indian Doll Pumpkins are a unique pumpkin variety that will add interest to your fall or halloween displays. They are large, flat, blocky shaped fruit with deep ribs. Their colors range from light orange, medium orange and pink-orange. They are good for pies and soup.
Jack Be Little Pumpkins are an heirloom pumpkin from the Orient that bears fruit that can fit in the palm of your hand. This tiny, cute pumpkin weighs about 8 ounces that are flat and ribbed. The flesh is good to eat and the skin is bright orange. They are highly popular and they can last for up to 12 months.
Another HP Farms favorite that we have been growing since the beginning is the Jarrahdale Pumpkin. It is a medium-large heirloom pumpkin named after a town in Western Australia with a distinctive blue-grey color. It ranges in size from 6-20 lbs and generally has pronouced ribs. It is an excellent all-around choice. It is well-suited to autumn décor, cooking and long term storage.
Kabocha Squash is a Japanese winter squash, sometimes called the Japanese Pumpkin. It has a hard knobby-looking outside. It has EXCEPTIONAL SWEET flavor-even sweeter than Butternut Squash. The rind is edible but many cooks may peel it to speed up the cooking process. It is often used as a side dish in place of potatoes or in soups. It is the most common ingredient in vegeatable tempura.
Long Island Cheese Pumpkins have a rich history on the East Coast as one the OLDEST domesticated squashes. This heirloom is favored for its smooth, stringless flesh and rich flavor. They are also very pretty and make a wonderful ornamental pumpkins for your fall displays. It has become a staple at HP Farms.
Magic Wand Pumokins are a standout for dark orange heavy ribbing on round to slightly flatter fruit. It has a nice heavy firm handle.
Moonbean Squash is also called Scallop Squash. This became a HP Farms favorite last year. These fruits looks like miniature pies with a white outer flesh, pale green inner flesh and scalloped edges. It has a sweet, mild flaover. The texture is soft and tender when roasted, It pairs nicely with cilantro or parsley
The Mustang Pumpkin is new to hp farms in 2023! It is a medium sized jack-o-lantern that is smooth and bright orange. Its long dark green sturdy handles make this a very easy pumpkin to pick up.
One Too Many Pumpkins are totally unique and mostly round novelty pumpkin. It is a favorite speciality pumpkin that we grow at HP Farms. It has skin that has “red veins” that crawl across the white background. When you see this pumpkin, you will swear you’ve had “one too many”. This 20+ pound pumpkin makes a great pie pumpkin or decoration or carver.
Galeaux d’Eysine squash is a French Heirloom and another special variety at HP Farms. It is round, squatty and flat squash. The skin transforms from green to salmon-peach when ripe and is covered in “peanut-shell” like protrusions. As the sugar content grows, the mode nodes appear on the outside of the squash and the sweeter it will become. It has a very smooth almost velvety texture that is very sweet reminiscent of a sweet potato or even an apple.
Porcelain Doll Pumpkins have round and blocky shapes with deep ribbing. When they are ripe, they have a pale pink color with smooth skin. They have light orange tender flesh. They are very attractive because of their unique color and are also very good for eating.
Red Warty Thing is a pumpkin/squash that is medium to large in size, averaging 10-20lbs. It is globular, oblong & slightly lopsided. It has a thick, bright orange-red skinned that is covered in many bumps or “warts”. This heirloom is actually believed to be a cross between an ordinary pumpkin & red hubbard squash dating back to 1897. It is favored for its use in decoration but actually has a mild sweet flavor.
The Seminole Pumpkin is NEW to HP Farms in 2023. It is an heirloom variety that was a staple among the Seminole Native Americans in the Everglades. It has a smooth texture and sweet flavor that is great in soups, pies and baked goods. Seminole Pumpkins have a teardrop shape with a tan exterior and store extremely well.
SNOWBALL PUMPKINS are small round bright white pumpkins. These are most definitely a HP Farm favorite. Their small size and smooth white finish make these beauties PERFECT for painting!
Spaghetti Squash is also known as Vegetable Spaghetti or Noodle Squash, is an ablong variety of winter squash. It is also a fan favorite at HP Farms. This squash can vary in color from ivory to yelloe to orange. It contains many nutrients including folic acid, potassium, Vitamin A and beta carotene. It is very low in calories at 42 calories a cup! Spaghetti Squash can be baked, boiled, steamed or even microwaved. It can be served with or without sauce as a substitute for pasta.
Spark Pumpkins are uniform and flashy mini pumpkins. They have a flattened shape with wide moderate ribs and yellow/orange skin with deep orange stripes.
Speckled Hound Squash is a hybrid winter squash that is quickly becoming a preferred variety at HP Farms. Not only is it eye catching but it is VERY tasty! These squash are eye very catching. They are uniquely colored light orange with splashes of green. They are absolutely beautiful to decorate with for your fall display and SO good to eat!
Another new variety to HP Farms for 2023-the Specter Pumpkin is truly unique! It is a medium sized fruit that are off white & sprinkled with warts. It has a solid shell that will make it a long lasting decoration into the fall. It has a durable handle attached & weighs 12-20 lbs.
Sunlight Pumpkins are stunning yellow to yellow-gold colored pumpkins. They have a wonderfully contrasting dark grren stem. They will help add color to your fall displays. They range from about 5-10 lbs.
The Sunrise Pumpkin is a scalloped shaped colorful mini with gold-orange striping pumpkin that we love here at HP Farms. Their unique style and shape will add beauty to your fall display.
Super Moon Pumpkins are gorgeous white pumpkin that are actually great to eat! These are usually blemish free white pumpkins that average about 30lbs. We have grown these over 50lbs. at HP Farms!
Sweet Dumpling Squash is a small winter squash that is new to HP Farms this year. With its hard, cream colored and mottled skin, its sweet flavor should pari well with maple syrup and other sweet glazes. It is also known as the Sugar Dumpling Squash. It grows about the size of a medium grapefruit. The skin while tough is edible. Its flesh is a pale yellow or orange in color. Its sweetness is enhanced even further by roasting.
Triamble Pumpkin is an heirloom variety originally grown in Australia but somehow has found its way to HP Farms in Chebanse, IL. It is slate blue. Not only is it great for decorating, but also is excellent for eating!
The Waltham Butternut Squash is the most commonly grown squash and a favorite staple at HP Farms. It has an amazing quality and great flavor. It also stores for a very long time. It is a tan peanut shaped squash that has a deep orange interior that is sweet, creamy and very flavorful! It can be steamed, boiled and even baked. It is very easy to incorporate into your favorite fall recipes.
Warty Goblin Pumpkins are heavily warted but also FRIGHTENINGLY cool. They vary from tall to round with an orange shell and green warts. It has a very good attatched stem. It actually has a nice sweet flavor ans is a favorite for cooking!
White Flat Boer Pumpkins are attractive, very flat , pure white pumpkins that are very unique and tasty. They are very sweet with an orange flesh that is perfect for pies and baking. This pumpkin is very popular in South Africa and was actually named for the Dutch Boers, who were once the colonial power. They typically grow to about 25-35lbs.
Introduced in 1893 in Philadephia, the Winter Luxury Pie Pumpkin is known for its classic, almost fairytale-like appearance. It has a supple round shape and a brillant orange lfesh that can vary from more mellow orange to a rich, almost sunset orange hue. There is also a soft netting across the flesh of the Winter Luxury. The pumpkin averages about 6 lbs, making them the perfect size for two pies.
Wolf Pumpkins are distinctive round pumpkins that are deep orange with moderate ribs. They have thick flesh with HUGE HANDLES! This is their 2nd year here at HP Farms.
ABOMINABLE PUMPKIN is a medium sized round white pumpkin with a strong dark green stem. It is a large true white pumpkin perfect for fall displays and weddings.
COTTON CANDY PUMPKIN despite its name, the cotton candy is not good for eating. This white pumpkin has good handles and ranges between 5-12 lbs. It is an EXCELLENT painting pumpkin. Its flesh is also white.
GOURDZILLLA GOURDS, their name says it all. These long neck oversized gourds are sure to draw attention. They offer sharp green and orange color contrast that is sure to be perfect for your fall displays. HP Farms is excited to bring these big gourds to you in their 2024 line up
HOWDEN BIGGIE is another new variety to HP Farms for 2024. This beautiful upright sitting pumpkin ranges from globe to tall globe. It has dark orange fruit and its stem is dark and strong. This is the CLASSIC American Jack-O’-Lantern and makes for the “perfect canvas” to express yourself.
JACK SPRAT PUMPKINS are small cute little 2- 3lb dark orange pumpkins with a slight rib. It is also a hearty little pie pumpkin.
LIL’ IRONSIDE PUMPKIN is a new variety to HP Farms in 2024. This 2lb. fruit have dark stems and are EXTREMELY hard shelled. They have extended shelf which makes them great to decorate and paint.
NAKED BEAR PUMPKIN is a new variety to HP Farms in 2024. This is a CUTE little pie pumpkin that is about 5-6 inches with a slightly flat shape. They have a bright orange color with shallow ribs and short thick stems. The most exciting thing about these pumpkins is besides a great pie pumpkin, they produce NAKED SEEDS that DO NOT need to be hulled. So if you like roasted pumpkin seeds (and who doesn’t) this would be a good choice for you!
ORANGE BULLDOG developed by the University of Georgia, this NEW pumpkin originated in the jungles of South America. We are excited to work with University of Georgia to bring this pumpkin to our customers at HP Farms in 2024.
SCARFACE is another NEW addition to the HP Farms line up for 2024. Scarface is a large upright pumpkin with unique eye-catching warts that turn from green to orange. It is sure to add some “scare” to your fall décor.
SECRETARIAT is a gorgeous dark orange pumpkin that has a slightly flat shape. It has exceptionally large handles and weighs in between 15-25lbs. Like its namesake, the Secretariat will finish your fall display in style.
SILVER MOON has landed at HP Farms for 2024. This Australian native is a wonderful hybrid that is pale blue with a silvery white striping and speckling. Its dark orange flesh has exceptional flavor.
SPICY MOCHA is a large caramel-chocolate colored pumpkin with a strong stem. It has a uniform shape and deep ribbing. It is larger than our popular HOT CHOCOLATE variety that HP Farms has raised for several years.
SQUASH AMERICAN TONDO is a unique ornamental squash/pumpkin that weighs between 6-14 lbs. It has deep orange skin with mottled green stripes between its thick orange ribs. It can be eaten when the fruit is young like a squash.
SQUASH BAKED POTATO is a butternut-colored acorn squash. It has a sweet, nutty flavor and looks like a baked potato. It is a perfect squash for fall roasting, soup and pie.
SQUASH PINK PANTHER is a light pink squash that is excellent for decoration or eating. It has a thick bright sweet orange flesh. Its unique color and uniform flattened shape that makes good addition to the top of your pumpkin stacks.
